Electromagnetic pollution, and how it impacts our health

Knowledge and awareness are extremely valuable tools when it comes to navigating wellness.

You can’t address what you aren’t aware of, and even if you are aware you have a health issue, you may not be addressing it to achieve the best outcome without full awareness and knowledge of the root cause.

We have all experienced symptoms, but what is a symptom and where does it originate from?

Symptoms are merely signals our body gives us that let us know something is out of balance. You may be able to name the symptom, and even have a provider assign a label to the “potential” cause for that symptom, but until you actually know the source of imbalance, how can it be appropriately treated at its root? More often than not, medical treatment today simply masks the symptom so we are no longer aware it is there, and fails to address the root cause(s).

It gets even more confusing when you consider the fact that a single symptom can be linked to many potential causes, making it hard to know what needs to be done to regain health and balance. Often a full evaluation of your life is a necessary aspect of regaining health, and therefore, navigating the path towards true wellness requires awareness of, and being tuned in to, your inner and outer environments.

Your internal environment includes everything from nutrient status, disease states, hydration levels, oxidation levels, emotions (to include those we have buried or suppressed), our nervous system and flow of energy, our cellular level health, and more.

Your external environment includes current events (good or bad) in your life, people in your life, your connection (or lack of) with nature, the country you live in, the area you live in, your occupation, your home and any toxins that are present (fragrances, cleaners, toxic molds, etc), the electromagnetic environment, and more.

When one symptom could be the result of a myriad of causes, how do we address it?

Typically, most people would advise seeing a professional if needed, and would also advise changing your lifestyle (eating habits, sleeping habits, movement, emotions, stress levels, etc). However, while this all helps, it doesn’t always address the actual root cause of the problem, and can sometimes fail to remove all symptoms, leaving us stuck with being on pharmaceutical drugs, or being stuck with symptoms we can't seem to rid ourselves of.

I have been studying wellness for fifteen years and more recent studies of mine have led me to understand that the primary root cause for most of our diseases we are experiencing today is actually electromagnetic frequency (EMF) pollution.

We are, at the atomic level, made of pure vortices of energy, and many of our biological systems in our body are energetic in nature. We interact with our environment and with others via energy fields and ionic exchange. Many effective healing modalities can bring us back into balance by addressing our energetic body and processes. Acupuncture, Reiki, energy healing, sound therapy, light therapy, and more all address our body from an energetic perspective.

It has been well proven that we are not separate from our environment, and research continues to prove just how powerful our connection with earth, with nature, and with others truly is for our health and wellbeing.

As energy beings, we are designed to be in resonance with earth’s frequencies (0-30Hz), but these frequencies have been masked over by manmade frequencies in our environment, and we are often spending most of our time in structures that cut us off from the earth's natural frequencies and ionic exchange. We are cut off from nature while at the same time being inundated with manmade frequencies.

Manmade frequencies were introduced with the addition of electricity in the early 1800s, and even back then, we knew it created disturbances in humans. As you know, the electromagnetic environment today is drastically different than it was in the 1800s... and so is the health of most societies around the globe.

In the past 3 years alone, the network of satellites in the skies has more than doubled to almost 6000. Health impacts were witnessed when they began launching satellites into space, and the number was much much lower. So what is this blanketing of a mesh network of satellites going to do to humans, life on earth, and the earth itself when we are all energetic in nature? No one really knows – but I can confidently state that it can't be anything good.

The addition of 5G is another major concern due to its frequency, the millimeter waves that are deployed in dense urban areas, and the proximity due to the massive number of towers needed to be installed everywhere, to include your own home (or your neighbor's). There have been many protests and calls by health professionals and scientists from around the world to stop the rollout of 5G, but, with few exceptions, they were ignored by the industry and 5G has been rolled out anyway.

5G was available to less than 5% of U.S. consumers in September 2019, but over the previous three years they have been steadily installing the towers needed, and the iPhone 12 was the first apple phone to accommodate 5G.

We are being increasingly more inundated, especially in the previous 3 years. With the scientifically proven impacts on human health and immunity, is it any wonder we witnessed a global pandemic at the exact same time that 5G was being rolled out and the mesh networks of satellites were being deployed in space? The timing should give everyone pause as to the impacts on our health. (No, I am not stating that EMF pollution caused the pandemic, but I am offering that it contributed via the negative impacts on our health and the fact that the timing shouldn't be ignored).

It should be noted that you can also correlate influenza pandemics with the roll out of new EMF technology, whether that is telegraphs, radio, radar, or cell towers, etc.

Our external environments are now filled with what is called electromagnetic smog, and it’s effect on our health is profound.

What causes electromagnetic smog?

Any manmade frequency outside of earth’s normal frequency spectrum, such as electricity, telephone lines, cell towers, radio towers, radars, cell phones, wireless headsets and phones, Bluetooth devices, WIFI routers, computers, CFL light bulbs, TVs, and many appliances all emit electromagnetic frequencies that contribute to pollution or smog in our environment.

There are devices we can purchase to measure the level of EMF pollution in our own home. From my own testing in my own home, the worst offender is by far my cell phone, followed by the router, and then my laptop computer and Bluetooth headphones.

I noticed that my phone (an iPhone 11) remains outside the safe parameters for RF pollution when not in use (simply just powered on). Even in airplane mode, it still wanders outside the safe parameters. When being used for a call – the numbers are scary!!!

We should all listen when experts warn against talking on your phone while holding it next to your head. Wearing our phone next to our body is also cause for concern, and is definitely not recommended. The most vulnerable to this are kids (through the teenage years as well) and pregnant woman.

Bluetooth headphones, such as the ear buds so many use, sit in a literal hole in our head (our ears). My ear buds measured upwards of 200+ (mW/m2) when in use, which is way above the recommended safe level of 10 (mW/m2) – and these sit right next to our brain. Some people are using them for hours a day, day after day.

History and science prove EMF radiation’s direct correlation to diabetes, heart disease, atherosclerosis, cancer, pain and chronic fatigue, anxiety, depression, suicide, weight gain, decreased immunity, insomnia, and more.

Underlying all these outcomes is the direct effect EMF has on our microbiome, our neurotransmitters, our myelin sheaths, our blood, and our mitochondria.

I want to focus on the mitochondria, because studies have shown that EMF has a very real, and quite debilitating impact on our mitochondria – specifically the electron transport chain and some of the enzymes needed for the creation of energy (ATP). Negative impacts on our mitochondria have far reaching effects on our body and our health – and hypoxia is one of them. EMF pollution is essentially suffocating all of us at a microscopic level.

Healthy diets and lifestyles do address a lot of these issues because they address mitochondrial health, our oxidative status, our oxygenation levels, and more. However, I am coming to understand more and more that poor diets and lifestyles aren’t necessarily the root cause (although yes, they are still a powerful contributing factor/cause to ill health).

The root cause for so many of our chronic illness, and even acute illness, is this disruption in our mitochondria - likely affected by the EMFs in our environment.

Unhealthy mitochondria and disrupted enzyme systems effect our ability to properly utilize sugars and fat, our ability to oxygenate, our ability to keep oxidative stress in check, and our ability to have a fully functional and regulated immune system (yes, the mitochondria are involved in that as well).

Additionally, the electromagnetic pollution can also effect your myelin sheaths surrounding your nerves, can disrupt the balance of the microbiome in your gut allowing less favorable bacteria to grow, and can really mess with your mind and your ability to sleep.

We are literally bathing in this electric smog every single day (unless you are someone who has chosen to live off the grid in the middle of the woods or has reached a level of EMF sensitivity where you need to live in a Faraday cage).

Obviously, this is a fast-rolling train with no brakes at the moment and no true regulation, so, what are we to do to protect our health so we can not only survive, but find a way to thrive in this environment?

The goal should be to remove or protect yourself from as much of the manmade frequency in your environment as possible, and to add as much of the natural, earth based frequencies as you can (by getting outside and spending time in nature).

Here are some simple things we can do/understand to lower the impact of EMF and mitigate some of the downstream effects on our health.

Understand that as we double our distance from a source of radiation (including EMF radiation like 5G) we quarter our exposure to it. Proximity matters.

Use the speaker feature on your phone for conversations and keep it at least 1 foot (preferable 3 feet) away from your body while talking. AVOID HOLDING THE PHONE NEXT TO YOUR HEAD.

Keep your phone on airplane mode as often as possible when next to your body.

Don’t put your laptop directly on your body/lap. If you use it this way, invest in a defender mat or Faraday fabric to provide some level of protection.

Instead of Bluetooth headphones invest in a pair of tube headphones designed to prevent EMFs from traveling up a wire to your ears. (sold on DefenderShield website provided below)

Whenever feasible, use Ethernet cables to connect your TV, your computer, and devices so you can turn WIFI off as often as possible.

Turn off your WIFI at night when you know you aren’t using it. If your router is in a location where you spend a lot of time, consider moving it somewhere else. Distance matters with EMF.

Use an EMF meter to take an assessment of your living and work spaces – address problem areas.

Be wary of SMART devices – it may contribute to the levels of EMF smog within your living environment.

Say no to CFL lightbulbs – these emit a significant amount of EMF radiation that directly impacts the neurotransmitters in your brain.

Use caution with electric heating pads and blankets, and limit their use.

Be mindful of how close you sleep next to outlets and any plugged-in devices. If you can, charge your phone away from your bed.

Say no to smart meters from the electrical company (if you are given that option). IF you have one, consider installing a smart meter shield.

Be aware of what surrounds your home location:

  • Be mindful of how close you are to cell phone towers (600 meters away or more is desired).

  • If you live in a high-rise apartment or a building with the antennas on top – if your health worsened after moving there, consider moving.

  • Be mindful of how close you are to electrical substations and large wire runs. Avoid living too close if possible.

  • Be mindful of how close you are to radar systems (ie live next to an airport, weather dopplers, etc).

Your work/office – know whether 5G antennas have gone up around it, and what the general electromagnetic pollution levels are, especially if you spend a lot of time there. Invest in a grounding mat for your desk if the levels are higher.

Use grounding mats and sheets. When we ground ourselves to earth – whether that is through direct contact with earth, or via grounding mats or sheets – a rebalancing of our + and – ions occur.

Get outside every day for 30-60 minutes a day. Spend as much time in nature as you can – gardening, taking hikes through a forest, walking on a beach are some of the best activities in this regard.

Follow a balanced, organic, whole food diet. (Paying attention to glycemic levels of foods, quality of fats, and how well you are coloring in that rainbow each week)

  • This is important because of the impact EMFs have on your cells ability to utilize fats and sugars – which can lead to higher blood glucose levels and higher blood triglyceride levels.

  • EMF pollution causes higher oxidative states, and colorful fruits and vegetables help combat this with the antioxidants they provide.

Supplement to boost cellular nutrition, especially for the mitochondria, and to reduce oxidative stress.

  • Multivitamin (high quality)

  • Magnesium glycinate (at night)

  • Curcumin

  • Resveratrol

  • (if suffering from fatigue or nerve issues, than adding in additional B vitamins may help – especially B1 and B12)

Do endurance/aerobic exercise – this also helps to boost the mitochondria (both the size and the numbers).

Use a PEMF mat. This is an expensive investment – but if you are sensitive to EMFs or have health issues that are likely correlated to EMF, than it is likely going to be worth it for you. They work at the cellular and mitochondrial level – and therefore can help to heal damage done by manmade frequencies.

Cellular hypoxia is one of the negative affects – so practice deep breathing to keep your body well oxygenated. (Exercising also helps with this). You can also go to oxygen bars and hyperbaric chambers if you know you are affected or have experienced cancer or chronic fatigue – this likely means that your cells are not oxygenating very well.

Practice good sleep hygiene to help combat the likely insomnia, and keep your body in a healthy circadian rhythm. Taking Melatonin can help, and also provides some antioxidant protection as well.
